Bye Bye Linzi xx

There must be something about this time of year ?!! A year ago I was planning my trip/move to New Zealand and my leaving party. (Who thought that I'd be back and happy to be in the UK !!). Linzi is off on new adventures and moving to Thailand (this time). This is Linzi's third move abroad. She had a great leaving party (not fancy dress like mine). It was very sad but it's also exciting to see her off on this adventure. She's had a lot of people promising to visit her, including me. I hope that she has a great time oversea's and know she'll be back in May as she has a wedding she has to attend - as she is a bridesmaid !!! All the very best Linzi, Heart You xx

Christmas Carol Service at The Sage Gateshead

We've been going to this for a few years now. The Sage is a wonderful music venue in Newcastle and we often get tickets for productions there. The Christmas carol service is great, the music is provided by Northern Sinfonia, with Northern Sinfonia and Quay Voices choirs. The night is hosted this year by Aled Jones (think "We're Walking in the Air"). Last year it was hosted by Ben Fogel and I have to admit that Ben had a much better re pore with the audience.
We sang our little hearts out (ok, just Mam and I did) to a total of 5 carols and enjoyed the carols that the choirs sang.
It's help me feel more Christmassy. I am sure we'll get tickets for next year and I wonder who'll be the host?

Our Christmas Tree for 2008

It's a bit of a family tradition, as it is for most people. Dad and I always go and buy the tree, a real tree, with Mam's voice echoing from the house saying "get a small one this year" and we normally come back with the standard 6 foot one. But this year we where good and got a 5 foot one. It was a good team effort this year. I put on the woodern toys, Mam put on the German glass balls and Dad put the lights on.
I know it look a wee bit present-less but that's because we are going down to my brothers for Christmas, so the gifts are all wrapped and packed away in another room.
I've been to my first Christmas carol service already and off to another one this weekend, and also have my first Christmas meal this weekend. The weather hasn't got above about 5oC since returning from New Zealand.

Christmas Shoppping in Edinburgh

As I am a lady of leisure / between jobs, I've got 2 weeks of me time. My friend Pete wanted a hand with his christmas shopping as in true Jaimie styleee all mind is all done. So when I got back from New Zealand I asked where he'd like to go shopping - I was thinking the Metro Centre (Europe's largest shopping mall and on the door step) or Newcastle, but nope I got the answer Edinburgh as even though he's a northern lad, he's never been to Edinburgh !!!! I should have frequent miles as I am in Edinburgh so often visiting Stella !!!
So, I was picked up at 7:30am, in the dark, in the cold and off we went on our adventure.... Arrived 2 hours later on the outskirts of Edin and did a 'park and ride' into the city centre. Just didn't want the hassel of trying to find somewhere to park in the city center.
On the way to Edin we made a list of people needed to buy for. As Pete had actually bought most of his gifts we decided to be toursits as our catch phare for the day turned out to be "well, we are on holiday"!!!!
Tourists we where - Edinburgh Castle, Princess Street, German Christmas Markets, Shopping, Bus tour of the city, lunch in the Hard Rock Cafe - well we where on holiday !!!! It was bloomin freezing though, didn't get above 3oC and I did become slightly jealous of Pete remembering a hat !!!!!
